Neil gaiman e “fair use” e Shannon/Minsky “Ultimate Machine”

Acordei hoje com duas notícias legais no boingboing:

[amazonify]1563891875[/amazonify]A primeira, é um link pro blog do Neil Gaiman @ wikipedia.org (en), com um texto sobre JKRowling @ wikipedia.org (en), Tim Hunter @ wikipedia.org (en), plágio e “fair use @ wikipedia.org (en)”. Com a polêmica em torno do processo da JKRowling contra um fã que lançou um “dicionário” do mundo de Harry Potter, voltam a tona as histórias que acusam o mago juvenil de ser chupado dos Livros da Magia @ wikipedia.org (en). Gaiman se defende das acusações por ela, e ainda de outras como subornos para não acusá-la de plágio: [amazonify]0545010225:right[/amazonify]

Genre fiction, as Terry Pratchett has pointed out, is a stew. You take stuff out of the pot, you put stuff back. The stew bubbles on.

A outra notícia é de um atoa sujeito habilidoso que construiu uma “ultimate machine”, descrita por Claude Shannon @ wikipedia.org (en) e Marvin Minsky @ wikipedia.org (en) em um artigo bem humorado: Basicamente uma caixa com um interruptor que quando ligado faz abrir a caixa de onde sai uma mão que desliga o interruptor. Nada mais inútil ;). Pois esse sujeito não sossegou enquanto não construiu a sua própria “ultimate machine”. Tudo registrado em vídeo, claro:
